Alexander Shalaev is a partner at E L W I Corporate and M&A practice. Alexander has extensive experience working at the international law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld LLP, as well as at a Russian investment company. He specializes in corporate law, M&A transactions, and related matters. Alexander also has varied experience in complex oil & gas industry projects, including EPC and subsoil use matters as well as experience in financial restructuring.

Experience
- Advising and representing LUKOIL in a broad range of complex transactions and projects, including:
- formation of several Russian joint ventures for development of oil and gas upstream projects in Russia;
- acquisition of Shell’s Russian business, including a chain of gas stations and a lubricants production plant;
- acquisition of majority stake in PJSC Enel Russia from Enel and a Russian investor;
- sale of 100% of the shares in JSC Arkhangelskgeoldobycha Diamond Mining Company, one of Russia’s largest diamond miners, to Otkrytie Group;
- acquisition of a Russian gas station network with more than 80 stations;
- acquisition of FC Spartak-Moscow, a major Russian football club;
- EPC projects with international contractors for the modernization of oil refineries in Russia.
- Advising a major Russian TMT company in connection with acquisition of a Russian cybersecurity company;
- Representing a confidential client on acquisition of the Russian subsidiary of an international insurance company and a network of health clinics in Russia;
- Representing a high-net worth individual in a divestment from one of the largest car retail chains in Russia;
- Advising Mail.ru Group Limited, a leading Internet and IT company in Russia, in connection with its joint venture with Sberbank to pursue a major online-to-offline consumer platform focused on foodtech and transport services;
- Representing PJSC UTair Aviation, a major Russian airline, in refinancing of its debt portfolio.
